Sellers often ask me what buyers are looking for. Here’s what I’ve observed over my many years selling homes in this district.
Suburbs in the upper north shore are highly sought after by families – and we have many good-sized family homes across our area. Space is number one for most families. Although families here tend to be smaller, parents still seek a large backyard for kids to play in, plenty of bedrooms for everyone to spread out, and a good-sized kitchen for family meals.
Most buyers now prefer two bathrooms or at least a bathroom and a powder room. While open-plan living was popular in years past, I’m finding a bit of a reversal now. Parents want their own space for peace and quiet, so a living room with a door, a separate play area for kids, or a media room for teens can help with sales.
With many professionals working in hybrid roles, an office is also well regarded. It isn’t just families who find the Northern Districts appealing. Young professionals are finding value here, too and upsizing from units or townhouses and purchasing their first home in view of starting a family in an area that provides excellent schooling possibilities.
All buyers want a move-in-ready home. By understanding what buyers want, you can showcase your home's strengths and secure a fast sale. If you would like advice before putting your home on the market, please give me a call
