What is the most important room in the house when selling? You’ve probably heard that kitchens sell houses. But why are kitchens so important?
The kitchen is where families gather, meals are assembled, and memories are created. So, how can you make your kitchen more buyer-friendly?
First, talk to me before you renovate. You may or may not recoup the money. A good start is to clean and declutter, especially if kitchen items take up too much space. Buyers want to see plenty of storage and bench space, so if you aren’t using appliances daily, move them out.
If the paintwork is looking tired, then by all means repaint and maybe refresh cupboard door handles at the same time. New tapware can instantly add pizzazz to your kitchen. If the lighting is a bit old-fashioned, then replace lighting fixtures. One thing is certain: buyers will open drawers and cupboards.
Keep in mind that people can be turned off by small issues like sticking drawers or wonky hinges, so fix these before your first open home. Once your kitchen is sparkling, add personality with a print, a plant or a bowl of fruit. As long as your kitchen smells fresh and clean, you’re done.
